Preparatory School.
KeyBridge Education regularly provides tuition to students studying at preparatory schools such as:
As the name suggests, the main purpose of a preparatory school is to prepare students for entry to an independent secondary school. These schools usually provide education for children up to the age of 13, although some (girls in particular) may leave after successfully completing their 11+ exams and securing a place in Year 7 of their secondary school of choice.
Independent prep schools are free to set their own fee structures, meaning that no two schools will necessarily have the same fees.
In terms of what they teach, prep schools also have the freedom to design their own curriculum, and there is no need for them to follow the National Curriculum if they choose not to. This very often means that their lessons are more diverse and taught by specialist teachers with smaller class sizes.
The final two years of prep school are focused primarily on preparing the student for secondary school entrance exams, meaning that lessons have a stronger academic focus. Students in Year 8 will typically be expected to sit exams in all major subjects such as English, Maths, Science, French, History, Geography, Religious Studies.
